Batavia, NY-SO German Burset Romero closed out an outstanding two years at Raritan Valley in style on Thursday, leading the Lions over Finger Lakes Community College, 8-2 in the consolation round of the NJCAA Division III National Championship on the campus of Genessee Community College. Romero would finish with 5 goals on the day, surpassing his previous personal best single game output of 4 against Ocean County College on September 24th of this year. Romero's 5 goals leave him with 16 goals scored this year and 33 goals on his career.
Romero and the Lions wasted no time getting on the board in the first minute of the game. FR Angel Cortes added a goal ten minutes later. A deflected shot by Romero found the back of the net in the 20th minute and the Lions had all they would need to close out the season with a victory. FR Goalkeeper Jair Diaz Palma played outstanding in net for RVCC, finishing with 13 saves on 15 shots. With none bigger than the save made on a Finger Lakes penalty kick in the 35th minute when the score was 4-1.
The Lions finish the season with an 11-4-3 record.
