LEADING OFF

Indian Hills is set to open its third road trip of the year to open the season as the Warriors will bring a 6-2 overall record to Oxford.

  • After dropping its first two games of the year, Indian Hills has rattled off six consecutive victories, including four-straight at last weekend's SCC Turf Tournament in Burlington.
  • The Warrior offense is outscoring their opponents 53-34 on the year, including 51-10 advantage during the team's six-game winning streak.
  • The team's 53 runs are the most through the first eight games of the season since the 2017 squad totaled 59 runs to open the year.
  • Indian Hills is 6-4 all-time at the JUCO Extravaganza after going 4-2 last season, including a win over No. 2 nationally ranked Northwest Florida State.
  • Sophomore Ava Smith has been named this week's ICCAC DI Softball Player of the Week after boasting a .714 batting average last week.
  • Cassandra Benberg (.458) and Peyton Raley (.414) join Smith (.560) to power the offense through the early stages of the 2025 campaign.
  • As a team, the Warriors are averaging 3.9 doubles per contest this year, the top mark in the nation.
  • Veteran pitchers Ashlynn Sheets and Alivia Ruble have combined for five wins on the year while striking out a total of 25 batters.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Considered to be one of the premiere early-season events in the junior college softball world, the Warriors will square off against a number of perennial national contenders and historically dominant programs.

  • All five of the Warriors' opponents this weekend won at least 27 ballgames a year ago, including two with at least 40 wins.
  • Georgia Military won five of its first seven contests to open the year, but have dropped four-straight heading into Oxford.
  • The Warriors are 0-1 all-time vs. the Bulldogs, having dropped a 4-3 loss at last year's JUCO Extravaganza.
  • Indian Hills will be taking on Snead State in Oxford for the second consecutive year after dropping the Parsons 1-0 last season.
  • Snead State is off to a 5-8 start on the year, having won three of its last five contests.
  • Snow has dropped five consecutive contests heading into the weekend are are just 3-8 on the year.
  • Indian Hills and Snow will be squaring off first the time since Indian Hills took a 1-0 victory at the 1993 NJCAA World Series.
  • A national qualifier a year ago, Chattanooga State is off to a 5-4 start in 2025.
  • Indian Hills is 1-0 all-time vs. Chattanooga dating back to the 2010 season with an 11-9 victory at the 2019 NJCAA World Series.
