The State Fair Community College baseball team swept a Region 16 doubleheader against Missouri State University-West Plains on Friday, winning 8-2 in the opener and 11-7 in the second game.

SEDALIA, Mo. – The State Fair Community College baseball team swept a Region 16 doubleheader against Missouri State University-West Plains on Friday, winning 8-2 in the opener and 11-7 in the second game.
 
In game one, freshman outfielder Devin Wassmann of Platte City, Missouri, led the SFCC offense with two home runs, four RBIs, and two runs scored. Sophomore outfielder and first baseman Dayne Wimberly of Platte City, Missouri, also homered, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Freshman catcher Carter Rice of Sedalia added a double, while sophomore middle infielder Sam Paule of Washington, Missouri, doubled and drove in a run. Wimberly and freshman middle infielder Peyton Cooper of West Plains, Missouri, each stole a base. SFCC totaled seven hits.
 
Freshman pitcher Jacob Tellman of Jefferson City, Missouri, improved to 2-1, throwing a complete-game seven-inning performance. He allowed three hits, two runs, struck out nine, and walked two.
 
In game two, Wimberly continued his strong performance with three hits, including another home run. He drove in three runs and scored three times. Paule added two hits, including a double and an RBI. Cooper contributed a double, two RBIs, and a run scored. Wassmann tripled and drove in two runs. Sophomore outfielder Jordan Hedrick of Platte City, Missouri, drove in three runs and stole a base. Sophomore outfielder Caleb Briggs of Lee's Summit, Missouri, scored twice and stole two bases. SFCC recorded 10 hits and walked nine times.
 
Freshman pitcher Hunter Jones of Branson, Missouri, started, pitching 4 1/3 innings. He allowed four runs, two earned, while striking out five and walking seven. Sophomore pitcher Parker Lambeth of Springfield, Missouri, earned the win in relief, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk in 2 2/3 innings. Sophomore pitcher Connor Rhorer of Pilot Grove, Missouri, threw two innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out two, and earning his first save of the season.
 
March 8 – Missouri State University-West Plains at Sedalia
 
SEDALIA, Mo. – SFCC (6-7, 3-5 Region 16) split Saturday's doubleheader against Missouri State University-West Plains, dropping the first game 8-6 before bouncing back with a 7-1 win.
 
In game one, SFCC struggled defensively, committing four errors but still managed 10 hits. Wassmann doubled twice and scored a run. Briggs had two hits, an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. Freshman middle infielder Christian Kuchta of Liberty, Missouri, also stole a base. Freshman third baseman and first baseman Andrew Hill drove in two runs.
 
Sophomore pitcher Chase Schnieders of Jefferson City, Missouri, started and took the loss, falling to 1-2. He allowed seven runs, three earned, on five hits over 5 1/3 innings, striking out seven and walking two.
In game two, the SFCC offense posted 10 hits. Briggs led with three hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Paule added three hits and three RBIs. Wimberly had two hits, including a double, and scored three runs. Hill contributed two hits, including a double, with two runs scored and an RBI.
 
Sophomore pitcher Nate Bartlett of Lee's Summit, Missouri, improved to 1-0 with a dominant start. He threw seven innings, allowing just four hits and one unearned run while striking out seven and walking two. Freshman pitcher Josh Hagle of Knob Noster, Missouri, closed out the game with two scoreless innings, earning his first save of the season.
