
MERIDIAN, MS - Meridian Community College faced a tough opponent in 19th-ranked Pearl River, falling 74-50.
The Lady Eagles (10-10, 2-3 conference) started the game with a slow first quarter, allowing the Lady Wildcats (15-2, 4-1 conference) to take an early 9-4 lead. Despite battling back, Meridian trailed by 10 points heading into halftime.
Meridian found some rhythm in the third quarter, showing flashes of energy, but Pearl River's depth and dominance became evident in the fourth as they pulled away for the victory.
Annearrea Ducksworth and Terica Smith were standouts for the Lady Eagles, each contributing 12 points to lead the team.
Meridian looks to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to Coahoma for their next conference matchup.
