Cardinals lose a close game against Prince George's Community College

Catonsville, MD – The CCBC Cardinals fell just short against Prince George's Community College last Friday night. The Cardinals put up a good fight, but a 12-point 4th quarter lead for the Owls was too much to overcome. They'd end up losing this one by a score of 57-49.

The Cardinals defense got off to a great start, holding the Owls to just six first quarter points. However, this success didn't last long. The Owls bounced back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, outscoring the Cardinals by 17 points. The middle quarters of this game were costly for CCBC.

The Cardinals may have failed to complete the upset, but they did receive a standout performance from Jocelyn Fogle. On a night where offensive efficiency was lacking, Fogle posted an impressive 23 points, while making 53% of her shots. She also added 11 rebounds, including five which were offensive. Nine of the 18 field goals made by the Cardinals came from Fogle. Serafina Stubbs also contributed a double-double of her own, finishing with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

The Owls also struggled offensively, shooting just under 27% from the field as a team. Their most consistent performer was Nia Grymes, who finished the night with 17 points on 50% shooting from the field. She also recorded three steals and zero turnovers.

The big differences in this game were the turnovers and the three point shooting. The Cardinals turned the ball over 22 times as a team, compared to just 16 for the Owls. Also, both teams struggled shooting threes, but the Owls made five compared to just one for the Cardinals.

The loss for CCBC dropped their record to 3-13, while the Owls continue to soar with a record of 14-3 on the season.
