The M State Men's Basketball team recorded their 11th consecutive win on Saturday in St. Cloud, as the Spartans took a 36-25 halftime lead over the Cyclones and held off their second half comeback for an 82-76 victory. M State is now 26-2 overall as they prepare to enter the Region XIII Tournament next Friday through Sunday at Anoka-Ramsey in Coon Rapids.
M State shot 53.3% (32-60) from the field, but once again struggled from 3-point range, making only 5-of-20 (25%). They also made 13-of-18 (72.2%) of their free throw opportunities.
Foday Sheriff compiled another double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, to go along with 3 assists and a pair of steals. Yonis Mohamud also scored 19, and had 7 rebounds and 2 assists. M State is the number one seed from the MCAC South Division, having claimed sole possession of first place in the South with an 11-1 record. They will open Regional Tournament play at 5:00pm Friday at Anoka-Ramsey.
