
Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College Beavers emerged victorious against Independence Community College with a final score of 112-96 to get back in the win column.
The first half was closely contested, with Pratt narrowly leading 58-57 at halftime. Both teams demonstrated strong offensive capabilities, but Pratt's slightly better shooting accuracy gave them the edge. Independence's Chris Dockery and Chiante Tramble were instrumental in keeping their team competitive, scoring 20 and 17 points, respectively.
In the second half, the Beavers extended their lead by outscoring Independence 54-39. Pratt's offensive strategy was spearheaded by standout performances from Jarrett Dingle and Joseph Opareke, who scored 25 and 22 points, respectively. Dingle also contributed significantly with 12 assists.
The Beavers shooting efficiency was a decisive factor in their victory, with the team converting 69.8% of their field goal attempts compared to Independence's 51.5%. Additionally, Pratt dominated the boards, securing 34 rebounds to Independence's 17. Ajiet Akot was a key contributor in this area, grabbing 9 rebounds and adding 19 points to the scoreboard.
Pratt will host Coffeyville Community College on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 4:00 p.m.
