Beavers Loses a Nail Bitter Against #14 Butler

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College men's basketball team lost a nail biter against the No. 14 ranked Butler Community College Grizzlies on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Beavers lost the game by three points 85-82.  

The Grizzlies made the first bucket of the game and after a quick 2-2 tie, Butler took the lead and did not look back the entire first half. With 9:01 left in the first half, the Grizzlies led 25-20 and held a 45-37 halftime lead.  

Pratt did not wait long in the second half to make a comeback and outscored the Grizzlies 45-40 in the half. With 10:04 left to go in the game the Beavers pulled within six points 66-60 and took their first lead in the game five minutes later off a Hunter Vaughn three-point basket to go up by one 74-73. In the final minutes of the game, there were five lead changes and four ties between both teams. A timeout was taken with three seconds left in the game by Pratt down by three and ended on a missed halfcourt shot by Jarrett Dingle.  

Dingle finished the game with 20 points and six rebounds. Freshman Jakobe Clark and Ajiet Akot both finished with double digit points scored. Clark ended with 12 points and one rebound shy of a double double. Akot finished his night with a double double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Finally, for the Beavers Hunter Vaughn finished with 17 points.  

The Beavers will travel to Independence, Kan. on Monday, Jan. 27 for a make-up game with Pirates of Independence Community College before hosting the Seward County Community College Saints on Saturday, Feb. 1.
