JAMESTOWN, NY - The scoreboard didn't reflect how hard the Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's basketball team fought against #2 nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College in an 87-68 loss.

After falling behind 13-5, JCC started a comeback, aided by a pair of Joey Valerio buckets, who scored ten in the game, to draw within five midway through the opening half.

Jamestown would close the game to just two on the next possession when Travis Castro buried a three as part of his team-high 17.

Mohawk would grow its lead back to ten late in the half, but the Jayhawks had another answer from Federico Foddai, who finished the game with 15 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.

JCC trailed by six at the break, 40-34. Jamestown came out cold to open the second stanza, with the deficit growing to 16 thanks to a 15-7 run by the Hawks.

A traditional three-point play by Castro put Jamestown down just 11 at the 13:49 mark, but they couldn't get any closer.

The 19-point setback moved Jamestown to 4-14 on the year.

Jamestown hits the road this weekend for New York City, where they take on Orange County Community College on Saturday at 2:00 PM and then Monroe University - Bronx at 2:00 PM on Sunday.
