Baseball Swepted By Brookdale

Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College baseball team opened GSAC conference play by getting swept by Brookdale Community College in their three game series.  With the series loss the Mighty Oaks drop to 0-5 on the early part of the 2025 season.

Game 1

Yen Rodriguez opened the game strong for Salem with a two run home run in a four run first inning by SCC.  Brookdale answered back and continued to answer all day. Demetrius DeRamus went 2 for 3 scoring 2 runs for the Mighty Oaks. Jon Gambone took the loss on the mound going three innings and allowing 10 runs with only 5 earned.

Game 2

Game one of the Saturday double header saw DeRamus continue to hit going 2 for 4 with double and an RBI.  Chris Kelly went 3 for 3 with a double in the loss for Salem. JD Wilson took the loss for Salem striking out 8 in four innings of work. 

Game 3

Tyler Hacker opened the scoring for Salem with a first inning grand slam for the Mighty Oaks.  Salem could not capitalize though and took another tough loss. Hacker went 2 for 4 on the day with a double to go along with the first inning grand slam.  Jared Vanderstuer took the loss in his first start of the season going three innings for the Salem.

 

Salem will continue Region 19 play when they will face off with Delaware County Community College in their three game region series starting Friday March 7 at Salem and concluding Saturday the 8th with a double header at DCCC.
