
No. 10 Trojans roll, 120-40
MASON CITY - The No. 10 NIACC women's basketball team cruised to a 120-40 non-conference victory over Minnesota North College-Vermilion Saturday on Jenny Buls Vrba night in the NIACC gym.
At halftime of Saturday's contest, former NIACC women's basketball coach John Oertel spoke about his former player Buls Vrba, who passed away recently.
Sophomore Sonya Potthoff led the Trojans with 22 points, six assists and two steals. Potthoff was 4 for 5 from 3-point range.
Sophomore Tori Miller scored 19 points with four steals, three rebounds and three assists. Freshman Kelsey McDounough scored 17 points, including three 3-point goals.
Also for the Trojans, freshman Reggi Spotts scored 12 points with seven steals, six rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Keeley Steele led the Trojans with 13 rebounds and also had seven assists and two steals.
The Trojans' Grace Berding scored 11 points with five rebounds, two assistsn and two steals. Sophomore Alexis Schroeder scored 11 points with four assists, two rebounds and two steals.
The 120 points by the Trojans on Saturday is tied for the 12th highest single-game point total in school history. It is the 76th time in school history that the Trojans have scored at least 100 points in a contest.
NIACC (4-1 overall) returns to action Tuesday at home against the Waldorf University junior varsity. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 5 p.m.
