Minnesota State Spartans Stymied By Vermilion Ironhawks

Minnesota State Spartans couldn't keep up with Vermilion Ironhawks and fell 11-1 on Sunday.

Minnesota State Spartans were the first to get on the board in the third when Brett Laurin drew a walk, scoring one run. 
 
In the bottom of the third inning, Vermilion Ironhawks went back into the lead after TJ Frein singled up the middle, Martin Cubillan singled to left field, and Dylan Ploen grounded out, each scoring one run.
 
Andrew Melgeorge earned the win for Vermilion Ironhawks. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking seven. Cayden Doven (4IP, 6R, 9H, 5K, 3BB) took the loss for the Spartans. The hurler went four innings, surrendering six runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking three.
 
Brendon Kent and Cayden Doven each collected one hit for Minnesota State Spartans. Brett Laurin led Minnesota State Spartans with one run batted in.  Minnesota State Spartans had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Dalton Heater and Carson Bevill led the team with two walks each.
 
Vermilion Ironhawks amassed 14 hits in the game. Charlie Mohr, Martin Cubillan, Griffin Stiel, Nick Bergland, and Andrew  Ratter each collected two hits for Vermilion Ironhawks. Dylan Ploen, Martin Cubillan, and Nick Bergland each drove in two runs for Vermilion Ironhawks. Vermilion Ironhawks were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Martin Cubillan made the most plays with four.
