
Matadors Men's Basketball wraps up Chapman Christmas Classic with 85-72 win over Laramie County
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (11-4) finished the Chapman Automotive Classic unbeaten, winning its third game of the week with an 85-72 win over Laramie County Community College (6-11) on Friday afternoon at the House Gymnasium.
Matt Anglo poured in a game-high 27 points on 12-for-19 shooting with a pair of made three-pointers to lead the Matadors to their third consecutive win.
The Matadors scored 46 points in the first half, shooting 58.3 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. Anglo scored 17 of his 27 points in the first half while Kaleb Myers scored 12 of his 17 points in the first period, helping the Matadors outscore the Golden Eagles 46-32.
Edwin Suarez was the Matadors' third-leading scorer, scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds while Cam Atkinson added nine points off the bench.
The Matadors never trailed in the win, leading by as many as 22 points at the 15:09 mark of the second half.
Arizona Western returns to action on Wednesday, January 8, taking on Central Arizona in ACCAC play at 7:30 pm in Coolidge.
