Pennsville, NJ. – The Salem Community College Mighty Oaks softball team opened their 2025 season with a sweep of Monroe University – Bronx winning game one 7-6 in extra innings and 19-6 in the nightcap.
Game 1
Game one saw a back and forth match up won in extra innings when Lilly Peverelle doubled in Ella Hayes in the bottom of the seventh inning for the win. Hayes went 4 for 2 on the day with a run scored and an RBI. Bella Rappa went 2 for 3 with a double. Jolee Robinson also had a double for the Mighty Oaks while also having a multi-hit day going 2 for 3 with a run scored. Robinson also picked up the win for Salem in relief of Mighty Oaks starter Raegan Wilson who went five and a third for SCC.
Game 2
Game two saw the Mighty Oaks jump out to an early lead scoring 11 runs in the first inning. Sophomore catcher Callie Rozak hit the first home run of the 2025 season for the Mighty Oaks. Jolee Robinson went 2 for 2 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored. Ella Hayes went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and a double. Valeria Hatterer also doubled while driving in 2 runs and scoring 3 times going 1 for 2 at the plate. On the mound sophomore pitcher Jill Robinson went the distance pitching a complete game and striking out 6.
Salem will be back action Friday March 7 when they will host Sussex County Community College for a double header home at Watson Field. First pitch of game is scheduled for 12:00PM.
