LAUBY EXCELLENT IN THE CIRCLE AND AT THE PLATE FOR HAWKS IN SPLIT TUESDAY
COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team traveled down to Columbus, Nebraska Tuesday for a doubleheader with Central Community College. The Hawks fell in Game 1 by a final score of 6-2 before rallying back for a 6-4 victory in Game 2.

COLUMBUS, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team traveled down to Columbus, Nebraska Tuesday for a doubleheader with Central Community College. The Hawks fell in Game 1 by a final score of 6-2 before rallying back for a 6-4 victory in Game 2.
Northeast (11-12) was led at the plate in Game 1 by Bailee Ahlemeyer (Cambridge, Neb.) as the freshman had three of the eight hits for the Hawks. Amy Lauby allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings of relief, but it wasn't enough as the Raiders took the first showdown of the afternoon.
Lauby got things going on offense in Game 2 as she recorded two RBIs to help Northeast to secure a split of the day. Isabel Raburn (Holdrege, Neb.) was dominant for the Hawks again in the circle as she struck out 11 different Central batters. Raburn now has recorded totals of 19, 13, 11, 13, 5 and 16 strikeouts in her last five outings and already has tossed 115 strikeouts this season.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on the stellar performance of freshman Isabel Raburn so far this year:
"She is learning how to control the zone and beat batters multiple times, even with scouting reports, which is awesome," Sharpe said. "It will only get harder from here."
Sharpe on what she liked from her team today in Columbus:
"The energy from the team was something I haven't seen yet, and I loved to see it!"

The Hawks will have a quick turnaround and will battle Southeast Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Beatrice, Nebraska.
