Miami Dade Falls to Polk State in Tough 10-4 Loss
Despite late offensive sparks, Miami Dade College fell short in a 10-4 loss to Polk State College at home.
The Sharks struggled to contain Polk State's offense, which capitalized on key scoring opportunities throughout the game. After a tight opening three innings, Polk State broke through in the fourth with two runs and kept the pressure on with a four-run sixth inning to take control.
Miami Dade's offense found life in the later innings, with Talan Beckford launching a two-run homer in the seventh and Michael Petite adding a solo shot in the eighth. David Zamora contributed with a two-hit performance, including a double, but the Sharks couldn't overcome the early deficit.
On the mound, Luis Rodriguez took the loss, allowing four earned runs over two innings of work. The pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts but struggled with command, issuing 13 walks. Luke Helms got the start, delivering two scoreless innings before Polk State's offense took off.
Polk State's Mason Mojica led the charge with a three-RBI night, including a two-run home run in the fifth. Andy Schroeder also homered as part of an 11-hit attack.
