
SUMITON, AL – A pair of big innings helped the Indians pick up a pair of wins at Bevill State.
Game 1: Indians 12, Bevill State 0 (5 innings)
The Indians secured a 12-0 run-rule victory over the Bears after a six-run outburst in the top of the fifth inning.
Ella Duhon scored on a single by Laklyn Nichols, followed by Maddie Porter's double, which drove in Morgan Green and Nichols. Jenna Whitfield added an RBI single to bring in Porter before Lauren Brown crushed a two-run homer to center field, extending the lead to 12-0.
The Indians tallied 17 hits in the win. Brown and Nichols each recorded three hits, with Brown collecting a double and a home run.
Alyssa Clifft earned the win, striking out 10 while allowing four hits and three walks.
Game 2: Indians 13, Bevill State 9
Sadie Stegall drove in five runs on three hits, helping the Indians complete a sweep of the Bears with a 13-9 victory in the nightcap.
The Indians erupted for eight runs in the top of the third to tie the game.
Stegall singled to drive in Maddie Porter and Lauren Brown, followed by Zoe Goodman's RBI single that plated Stegall. Jenna Whitfield brought in Tayler Graham with a sacrifice fly before Ella Duhon ripped a bases-loaded double, scoring Addison Shands, Goodman, and Morgan Green. Stegall then singled in Duhon to even the score.
The Bears regained the lead, 9-8, in the bottom of the third.
In the fifth, Stegall crushed a two-run homer to center, putting the Indians ahead 10-9. Graham was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth, and Shands capped the rally with a two-run double.
Goodman recorded three hits as the Indians totaled 15 hits in the win.
Alyssa Clifft entered in the fifth, striking out seven and allowing four hits to earn the victory in relief.
