Lady Pirates Drop Home Matchup Of Nationally Ranked Teams

In an intense matchup of nationally ranked opponents, the Highland Scotties emerged victorious over NCMC women's basketball with a final score of 71-55. The Lady Pirates struggled offensively despite notable individual performances, ultimately succumbing to 7th ranked Highland's balanced attack and strong inside presence.

Cameron McNamara of Highland was the standout performer, dominating the paint with 28 points on an efficient 12-of-17 shooting while grabbing 13 rebounds, securing a double-double. Her relentless effort on both ends of the court set the tone for Highland, complemented by Madison Brittle's all-around contributions of 13 points and 4 rebounds. Jalasia Hull added 10 points and 4 rebounds, while Ja'Nisha Caldwell chipped in with 7 points and a solid 6 rebounds.

For NCMC, Jessica Reeter led the charge with 16 points, hitting two three-pointers and sinking all six of her free throw attempts. Reeter also contributed 5 rebounds and 3 assists in her efforts to keep her team competitive. Jacie Morris provided a strong presence on the boards with 9 rebounds to go along with her 10 points, converting 6 of her 8 free throw attempts. Honor Mannings came off the bench to provide an efficient 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, while Kayanna Cranmer contributed 10 points and 4 rebounds.

Despite these individual efforts, North Central struggled to find consistency on offense, shooting just 30.8% from the field and 20% from beyond the arc. Highland's defense capitalized on North Central's 17 turnovers, converting them into key scoring opportunities.

Highland's depth proved decisive as their reserves added crucial support, with Jadah Kingcade and Azariah Bryant combining for 9 points. The visiting team's superior field goal percentage (47.1%) and ability to execute in the paint made the difference in the game.

While 15th ranked North Central battled hard, the relentless inside scoring of McNamara and Highland's ability to control the tempo proved too much. The result reflected Highland's balanced scoring and defensive discipline, sealing their well-earned victory.

NCMC's next action will be three games in Palm Beach, FL from Dec. 17-19.
