Sophomore Night Ends with a Win
MCC defeated North Central 100-48
The MCC women's basketball team hosted North Central Michigan Tuesday night for their last regular season home game. Tuesday night's game was also their 'Sophomore Night' where they honored the dedication of the players in their last home game. The sophomores honored were: #3 Cylie Burns, #11 Kennedy Adams, #12 Remi Sponseller, #20 Arrionna Williams, #21 Kennah Vermerris, #23 Tyvi Davis, and #32 Gaby Reeve.
The Lady Jayhawks had a very slow start in the first half of the game. The Jayhawks went into halftime with only a 16 point lead. In the second half, the Jayhawks kicked it back into gear and finished the game off beating the Timberwolves 100-48.
Top players of the game were Tyvi Davis (#23) with 29 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. Arrionna Williams (#20) with 27 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Remi Sponseller (#12) with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Kennedy Adams (#11) with 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. And Kennah Vermerris (#21) with 4 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block.
Head coach Jason Cooper said "It is always great to get a win on a special night. We had some mistakes, but we picked up the intensity in the second half which led us to our win. I look forward to making it to Regionals."
Next game for the Lady Jayhawks is on Tuesday, March 4th (time TBD) where they will play either Kirtland or North Central at Muskegon Community College starting their post season play.
