Vikings Earn 2 Over Finger Lakes in Home Opener

GAME ONE: HVCC 20 - FINGER LAKES 1
Angelise Montanez hit three home runs and drove in six as the Vikings defeated Finger Lakes 20-1 on Saturday at home. Montanez homered in the second, and first innings.
The Vikings scored 13 runs in the second inning on the way to victory. Kayden Craft singled, scoring two runs, Montanez homered to left field, scoring two runs, Grace Harris drew a walk, scoring one run, Reegan Mullen hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Lily Brennan doubled, scoring two runs, Craft singled, scoring one run, Montanez homered to left field, scoring three runs, and Izabelle Ratcliffe hit a solo home run to center field.
The Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Montanez homered to left field, and Maeve Brannigan doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. The Vikings added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Craft singled to center field, Ratcliffe singled to center field, Samantha Graham hit a sacrifice fly, Brannigan singled down the left field line, and Anna Siter singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Moira Collins earned the win for the Vikings. The right-handed pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kaitlin Neumeister appeared in relief for the Vikings.
The Vikings piled up 16 hits in the game. Craft, Montanez, and Ratcliffe each collected three hits for the Vikings. Brannigan and Brianna Shutter each collected multiple hits for the Vikings. The Vikings had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. The Vikings turned two double plays in the game.
GAME TWO: HVCC 13 - FINGER LAKES 1
Maeve Brannigan drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Vikings past Finger Lakes CC 13-1 on Saturday. In the first inning, Brannigan hit a grand slam to left field.
The Vikings added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Angelise Montanez grounded out, Izabelle Ratcliffe singled to center field, and Grace Harris hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. The Vikings added three runs in the third. Samantha Graham doubled down the left field line, making the score 10-0.
Reegan Mullen earned the win for the Vikings. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
The Vikings collected 13 hits in the game. Graham led the Vikings with three hits in three at bats. Harris collected two hits for the Vikings in three at bats. The Vikings had patience at the plate, collecting four walks for the game. The Vikings didn't commit a single error in the field. Graham had the most chances in the field with seven.
The Vikings return home on Tuesday, April 22nd as they face SUNY Adirondack at 3pm and 5pm.
