ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team had two four-goal runs in the second half but could not catch up to visiting Army Prep Saturday at Siegert Field as the Riverhawks dropped their season opener to the Black Knights, 23-22.

Fanzo sparked the next four-goal run for the Riverhawks, who found themselves down, 22-20, with 5:32 to play. Army Prep scored a goal right off the faceoff to build back its three-goal cushion, but the Riverhawks responded in the same way as Kavney won the next draw and fed Fanzo to get within two, 23-21.

TJ Swann caused an Army Prep failed clear with 2:52 left, setting up Fanzo for his final goal of the game and a one-goal deficit, 23-22.

Kavney won the final faceoff with 2:21 to play, and AACC got three shots off before a turnover gave the ball back to the Black Knights, who held the ball for the final minute.
