Men’s Basketball Finishes in Second Place in the KJCCC

The Kansas City Kansas Community College men's basketball team beat the Neosho County Community College Panthers, 80-67 Feb.26 at MCC-Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo. The men's basketball program celebrated four individuals and a special honoree before the game for sophomore night. The four sophomores were Camron Williford, Pierce Ross, O'shawn Jones-Winslow and BJ Stewart. They also celebrated Mikequese Taylor with a painting of his jersey on a canvas. This would have been Taylor's sophomore night.

Stewart finished the season averaging 16.6 points per game which was the best in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in the 2024-2025 season. He finished with 19 points last night along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Williford had 16 points and brought in five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Jeremiah Lewis came off the bench and supplied 10 points and three rebounds. The Blue Devils finished with a conference record of 12-2 with both losses coming to Johnson County Community College who went 14-0 in conference play.

For the game, the Blue Devils shot 24-53 from the field (45.3%), 9-26 from three-point range (34.6%) and 23-32 from the free-throw line (71.9%). The Panthers shot 22-58 from the field (37.9%), 8-29 from three-point range (27.6%) and 15-21 from the free-throw line (71.4%).

The next game for the Blue Devils is against Neosho Community College at 7:00 p.m. Mar.3 at Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo for the first round of the Region VI Men's Basketball Championship tournament.
