CF Scores Early and Often in 13-3 Win Over St. Johns River

The College of Central Florida Patriots (18-4) showed why they are the #1 ranked team in the state of Florida when they defeated the St. Johns River State College Vikings (15-11) 13-3 on Tuesday thanks in part to eight first inning runs. Run scoring hits by Logan Chapman, Marcus Bradshaw, Anthony Diaz, Tanner Swank, and Dawson Harman accounted for seven runs. A bases loaded hit by pitch to Bruno Schafer finalized the first inning scoring.

The Vikings would make it an 8-3 Pats lead when Brody Dalton connected on his second home run of the game in the top

of the third inning. CF would quickly answer in the bottom of the inning when Miles Curley tripled home Diaz. A Brett House double, a Diaz RBI single and two wild pitches made the final score 13-3.

Karson Lindsey and Cory Geinzer each tossed two innings allowing only two hits, no runs, and striking out six batters. Swank 2H, Diaz 2H, double, 3 RBI, and Harman 3H, double, triple led the offense.

The Patriots open a three game Citrus Conference series this Thursday, 2:00 PM when the Seminole State College Raiders (15-8) visit Ocala. Games 2 & 3 will be on Saturday at Seminole State. 11:00 AM/2:00 PM.
