Thunderwolves win 7th straight title

Top-seeded and host SUNY Niagara knocked off No. 3 Monroe Community College, 72-54, in the Region III Div. II championship game on Sunday afternoon. It is the seventh consecutive regional title for the Thunderwolves.

The T-Wolves, who are ranked No. 17 in the most recent NJCAA Div. II poll, improved to 26-3 overall. The Tribunes, meanwhile, fell to 16-13.

Sophomore Krystal Smith had 15 points and five rebounds to lead a balanced attack. Classmate Anaya Smith finished with 13 points, nine boards and three blocks, freshman Isabella Karabetsos had 12 points, six assists and six steals and freshman Ava Bull added 11 points and six rebounds.

SUNY Niagara advances to next weekend's East A/B District Championship.
