Beaver Softball Splits With Seward County At Home

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College softball team hosted the Seward County Community College Saints for their home opener on Saturday, March 1. The Beavers split the double header 1-1 to pick up their first conference win of the season.  

Game One Recap 

In game one, the Saints defeated Pratt 13-4 in five innings. Seward Couty scored two runs in the first inning and added five more in the second. The fifth inning saw the Saints add six more runs to their tally, effectively sealing the game.  

The Beavers managed to score four runs throughout the game. Blair Shipman was a bright spot for PCC, contributing an RBI double. Sophomore Jaxin Louge finished the game with one hit, two walks, and two runs. The other two runs came from Hidee Wilson and Lyndsey Arrick.  

Game Two Recap 

In game two, Pratt secured a decisive 8-2 victory over the Saints. The Beavers set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Seward County managed to put one run on the board in the first. Pratt continued to build their lead with additional runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, bringing the score to 8-1 by the end of the fourth. Seward County's only other run came in the seventh inning, courtesy of Hailey Michalik's solo home run.  

Karis Stewart was a standout performer, both on the mound and on the plate. Stewart pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits and two runs while striking out three. Offensively, Stewart contributed significantly with a double and three RBIs. 

Brianna Howard and Reyna Howard were instrumental in Pratt's offensive success, each scoring two runs. Aiden Rodriguez and Kylie Wardlow also added to the scoreboard with crucial RBIs.

Pratt will host Colby Community College on Wednesday, March 5 for a conference doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm in Lemon Park.
