NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team was back home at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk Sunday for a doubleheader against North Platte Community College. The Hawks swept the day with victories of 12-2 and 12-0 during the afternoon.
Northeast (5-7) had their highest offensive output of the season Sunday as the 12 runs in both games matched the most that they've scored in a contest during the still young 2025 campaign. Both starters for the Hawks were excellent as Isabel Raburn (Holdrege, Neb.) did not allow a hit over four innings of work in Game 1 and Rachel Hobbs (Hoskins, Neb.) also did not surrender a run over the complete five innings in Game 2.
The no-hitter for Hobbs marks just the second time that a student-athlete has accomplished that feat in the history of the Northeast softball program. Hobbs was everywhere for the Hawks as she also tallied three hits and three RBIs at the plate in the second showdown of the day as Northeast will now gear up for a stretch where they are on the road for their next 10 ballgames.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Softball Coach Erin Sharpe on what clicked today against North Platte:
"Our demeanor was different," Sharpe said. "Our approach at the plate was different. We acted like we were ready to mash the ball rather than guessing where the ball was at."
Sharpe on Rachel Hobbs' performance:
"She did really good," Sharpe said. "Her mental game was on point today and she was great."
Sharpe on looking ahead to a battle with Central on Wednesday:
"If we play like we did today, we should definitely be able to compete in both games and hopefully we can come out with two wins."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will make the short trip down to Central Community College for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Columbus, Nebraska.
