Jefferson Baseball had a busy weekend at home first the double header against Onondaga Community College on Friday and the Monroe Community College on Saturday. In the first game on Friday, the Cannoneers got off to a hot start, going up 4-0 on OCC in the 2nd inning, but OCC would answer in the 3rd and pull away from there. Jacob Ortiz powered a solo home run, while Ryan Murnane, Mike Caraballo, Rob Leyva, and Omari Williams all provided an RBI each.
In game 2, JCC suffered a tough, late game loss to OCC. Oiram Williams led the way with a 3-run homerun, as part of a 4-hit day. Kaleb Peters and Robert Leyva provided 2 RBI each. Nick Spivey, Anthony Celar, and Leyva each slugged doubles in the game. Braiden Bley kept the Cannoneers in the game with a 4-inning start on the mound.
Game 1 of Saturday's home double header with Monroe saw the Tribunes tack on a big 5th inning that created a lopsided final. Anthony Celar and Oiram Williams provided the lone RBI for JCC. Game 2 saw the Cannoneers' late comeback fall just short. JCC led MCC 3-2 into the 4th inning when MCC would tack on a 7-spot. JCC would get 1 back in the 6th and then score 4 in the 7th, but would leave the bases loaded with the winning run on 1B to end the game. Mike Caraballo and Omari Williams each drove in 2 runs out of the bottom of the lineup. Oiram Williams, Ryan Murnane, and Daniel Storey would each collect an RBI in the effort. Caraballo and the Williams brothers slugged a double each in the game. Konnor Facteau allowed just 1 earned run in 2.1 innings pitched, striking out 2. Mekhi Smithwick and Nate Van Wie eached pitched 1 inning in relief allowing no runs, while Smithwick struck out 2. JCC will be back in action on Saturday March 22 as they begin their Region III East Division scheduled with a 4-game series against Columbia-Greene.
