Cardinals Lose a Thriller Against Patrick & Henry Community College

Hickory, NC – The Cardinals lost a close and high-scoring matchup against Patrick & Henry Community College on Saturday. Both teams combined for 30 total runs, with Patrick & Henry winning by a score of 17-13.

The offense was obviously on full display for the Cardinals. Brianna Twigg and Alana Watts were the stars offensively. Twigg got on base four times, including three hits and three runs scored. Watts was the biggest run producer for Catonsville, driving in four runs on her three hits in the game. Two of those hits went for extra bases, one being a double and one a homerun. The Cardinals also got a big performance out of Kayla Musgrove, who had three hits of her own.

The star of the show for Patrick & Henry Rachel Gooch. Gooch had five hits and six RBIs in this one, while also hitting for the cycle. She had four extra base hits in total.

The pitching staff struggled for both teams, but the defenses didn't do them any favors. The Cardinals defense had six errors on the day, while Patrick & Henry had seven as a team.

The Cardinals will look to clean up these errors in their next game against Surry Community College.
