Timberwolves Drop opening game of double-header to Genesee
BATAVIA, N.Y. –
SUNY Adirondack dropped the first game of a road doubleheader against Genesee Community College on Thursday afternoon, falling 10-2 in five innings.
Despite the loss, the Timberwolves had standout performances at the plate. Sophomore Natalie Conroy drove in both Adirondack runs, finishing the game with one hit and two RBIs. Emma Mertans chipped in with a strong offensive effort as well, collecting two hits in the contest.
Genesee CC took control early and built a lead that SUNY Adirondack couldn't overcome, using timely hitting and capitalizing on defensive miscues. The Cougars' offense remained consistent throughout, ultimately sealing the game via the mercy rule in the sixth.
The Timberwolves will look to bounce back in the second game of the doubleheader as they continue their road trip in Western New York.
