SUNY Erie gained two big wins on Saturday afternoon in a sweep over SUNY Adirondack giving them their 6th and 7th Region III wins of the season. Game one was a hard fought battle with the Kats walking it off in the bottom of the eighth when Bella Raimondi was hit by a pitch forcing home Carly Fraser to seal it. Grace Szpylman started for the Kats in the circle and went seven innings striking out 14 Timberwolves giving her 95 strikeouts on the year in 80 innings pitched. Cheyenne Barnard would pitch the eighth becoming the pitcher of record and registering her fourth win of the year.
Emma Poitras led the way for the Kats with three hits giving her a team high .433 batting average. Olivia Ball and Cheyenne Barnard added two hits each with Ball adding a two run homer giving her four on the year. Anna Cervino, Kira Kilonsky and Mikayla Gallivan added hits of their own. Carly Fraser would draw three walks. Brianna Farnsworth chipped in with 2 RBI's.
In game two the Kats exploded with thirteen hits including a 16 run third to put the game away. Fraser, Gallivan, Poitras, and Farnsworth all had multi hit games with two apiece. Kilonsky, Cervino, Ball, Barnard and Raimondi all collected hits in the route. Szpylman got the start and the win for the Kats and Barnard would pitch a scoreless fifth to close it out.
Cervino was again spectacular behind the dish erasing multiple runners on the day as she put on a blocking clinic allowing no Timberwolves runners to take extra bases.
Up next the Kats host SUNY Niagara on Thursday April 24th at home as they honor their sophomores on sophomore night.
