Pirate's softball took a couple home Region 16 wins on Tuesday over State Fair CC to improve to 11-17 on the year and 6-4 in region play. They will next look to keep up the momentum in region play when they travel to Jefferson College on Friday for a doubleheader. First pitch in Hillsboro, MO is set for 1pm.
In the opener with the Roadrunners, Brookelynn Becker was a force at the plate. She went 3-3 with a pair of doubles plus scored two runs. Myla Laws went 1-2 with her own pair of runs scored. Ireland Bloss drove in two while going 1-4. In the pitcher's circle, Cassi Rodgers scattered 7 hits in 5 innings, surrendering 5 runs with only 2 being earned. Briley Bouma tossed the final two frames while allowing just 1 run on 3 hits.
Game two saw NCMC's power bats come alive. Addison Huber knocked a grand slam, her lone hit of the game but it was a big one. Bloss also homered and drove in 3 runs for the Pirates. As a team, NCMC had 12 runs on 8 hits. Emma Lisenbee got the start in the game but allowed 5 runs in 4.1 innings. Picking up the win in relief was Bouma who did not allow a run in 2.2 innings. She struck out 3 Roadrunner batters.
