Baseball Sweeps Holyoke in Two Games

GAME ONE: HVCC 12 - HCC 2
Tyree Jackson hit for the cycle to carry the Vikings to a 12-2 victory over Holyoke on Tuesday. Jackson hit a home run to left field in the first inning, tripled in the third inning, doubled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning. The Vikings jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Jackson homered to left field, scoring three runs, and a dropped third strike scored one run. A double by Jackson, and a single by Jameson Balich helped the Vikings extend their early lead in the second. Adding to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Holyoke committed an error, Jackson tripled to center field, Brendan Connolly singled down the right field line, and Balich tripled to center field, each scoring one run.
Tyler Murray earned the win for the Vikings. The reliever allowed three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Jason Savattere began the game for the Vikings. The starter surrendered five hits and two runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none.
The Valley Boys amassed 14 hits in the game. Matthew Carrera and Balich each collected multiple hits for the Vikings. Connolly stole two bases. The Vikings stole four bases in the game.
GAME TWO: HVCC 20 - HCC 0
Jameson Balich collected three hits in four at bats, as the Vikings defeated Holyoke 20-0 on Tuesday. Balich hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning and singled twice in the first inning.
The Valley Boys scored 12 runs in the first inning on the way to victory. Tyree Jackson singled, scoring two runs, Balich singled, scoring one run, Logan Norman homered to left field, scoring two runs. Michael Poltar hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Jackson drew a walk, scoring one run, Brendan Connolly doubled, scoring three runs. Balich singled, scoring one run, and Aidan Heffner drew a walk, scoring one run for the Vikings in just the first inning. The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the second on an inside the park home run by Christian Aguilar. They added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Carson Jenkins-Antle tripled to center field, Poltar singled up the middle, and Nico DeSanto singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Jimmy Wilson earned the win for the Vikings. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Pierson Davis led things off on the hill for the Vikings. The starter surrendered two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Jake O'Connor and Daniel Paton each came on in relief for the Vikings and collectively shutdown Holyoke.
The Valley Boys head to Florida for their Spring Break Trip and kick off play on Saturday, March 15th against Bergen at 10am.
