
SF Sweeps St. Petersburg
Santa Fe made the trip to St. Petersburg on Tuesday afternoon for a conference doubleheader.

St. Petersburg, FL
Santa Fe College used an early lead to hold the lead late in the ball game to take a 5-4 win in game one of the doubleheader. Santa Fe took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning before a Madison Conway two-run homerun in the third inning to help extend the Saints lead to 4-0. Which is where the score held until late in the sixth inning. St. Petersburg was able to scratch across two runs in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 4-2. A solo homerun in the seventh inning from McKenzie Jewell gave SF the insurance they needed. In the bottom of the seventh, St. Petersburg scored two runs before leaving the bases loaded with the final out.
Conway and Jewell led the offensive attack in game one. Conway went 2-4 with two RBIs and one run scored, while Jewell was 2-3 with two RBIs and a run scored as well. Ryleigh Bauer went 6.1 innings, allowing five hits and three runs, all earned. Bauer struck out six in the win. Alexis Daphney came in to get the save going the final 0.2 innings, allowing one run and walking three Titans.
In game two of the doubleheader, Santa Fe shut down the St. Petersburg offense, winning 6-0. A solo run for SF in the first, third, and fifth gave SF a 3-0 lead through five innings. In the sixth, SF extended the lead to six, scoring three runs.
Karris Rhine and Jewell were the top offensive performers in the final game of the day. Rhine was 3-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in two. Rhine was the only Saint to hit a homerun in game two of the afternoon. Jewell was 2-4 at the plate while driving in two runs for SF.
Santa Fe is back in action on Tuesday, March 18th, at 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
