Potomac State locks in another Regional win

WVU Potomac State College dominated Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) with an impressive 91-52 victory on February 22, 2025. Potomac State's commanding performance improved their record as they wind down their regular season competitions.

Potomac State set the tone early, jumping out to a 37-24 lead in the first half. They continued their relentless pace in the second half, outscoring AACC 54-28 and never allowing their opponents to recover.

Standout individual performances for WVU Potomac State College included:

  • Damian Thompson: Led the scoring with 16 points on efficient 6-11 shooting, including 2-4 from three-point range. He also added 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 24 minutes.

  • Camren Wilkes: Knocked down 4 three-pointers on his way to 14 points, contributing 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in 26 minutes.

  • Yanis Youbi: Provided a strong two-way performance with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 steal in 18 minutes.

  • Eugene Bryant: Nearly had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while dishing out 1 assist and racking up 9 steals in 24 minutes.

  • Avion Blackwood: Showed efficiency off the bench, scoring 13 points on 6-7 shooting and grabbing 6 rebounds in 18 minutes.

  • Daniel Charlot: Controlled the boards with 9 rebounds, contributing 7 points and 1 block in 22 minutes.

Potomac State's collective effort on the glass and defensive pressure was remarkable, as they outrebounded AACC 58-24 and forced 22 turnovers. Their balanced offensive attack and tenacious defense were instrumental in their dominant victory.  The Catamounts host their sophomore recognition night on Wednesday at 7pm at Lough Gym as they look to face the Community College of Beaver County in their final regular season contest.
