Trojans stop Marshalltown CC, 79-74
MARSHALLTOWN - The NIACC men's basketball team topped Marshalltown CC 79-74 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest.
NIACC trailed 40-36 at the half but outscored the Tigers 43-34 to claim the five-point road victory.
Sophomore Omarion Roberts led the Trojans with 24 points, including an 11 of 11 performance from the free-throw line. Roberts also collected 10 rebounds and two assists.
It was the second career double/double for Roberts, who also recorded a double/double with 24 points and 12 rebounds against Northeast CC on Dec. 7, 2024.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Keon Alexander scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Randy McClendon scored 11 points and Zion Wright scored 10 points.
McClendon was 7 of 7 from the free throw line.
The Trojans were 27 of 33 from the charity stripe. The Trojans were also 27 of 33 from the free throw line against the Mount Mercy Junior Varsity on Nov. 7, 2024.
NIACC (17-8 overall) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Iowa Western. Game time in Council Bluffs is slated for 7:30 p.m.
