Miami Dade Falls in Game Two as Eastern Florida Rallies Late, 3-2
After a thrilling extra-inning victory in Game One, Miami Dade came up just short in the nightcap, falling 3-2 to Eastern Florida State College in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Sharks took an early lead in the third when Caroline Mito's sacrifice fly brought home Carmela Smith to tie the game at 1-1. Miami Dade then grabbed a 2-1 lead in the sixth as Gabriela Luz delivered a clutch RBI double, scoring Maria Julia Pedroso.
However, Eastern Florida capitalized on defensive miscues in the seventh. With one out, an error allowed Cora Middleton to score the tying run, and another miscue plated Aracelis Jimenez, giving the Titans a 3-2 edge.
Aimi Tohara was strong in the circle for Miami Dade, pitching 6.1 innings while allowing no earned runs on six hits. Despite her solid outing, the Sharks were unable to recover from three costly errors.
