Colts take down the Broncos of Bronx Community College

On Thursday January 9th the SUNY Orange Colts secured their first victory of the new year. To start the game Bronx Community College jumped out and was able to earn an 11 point lead over the Colts after the first four minute of play before Freshman Forward Olivia Harrison was able to halt their scoring spree by drawing a foul and earning the teams first point of the game but despite the rough start to the game the Colts did not give in and were able to cut the lead down to three point while not allowing the Broncos to score. After one quarter of play the SUNY Orange Colts find themselves trailing 16-9 as they are yet to find their first lead of the game. Going into the second quarter the Colts will have to find a much needed spark if they want to stay in this game and after hard fought 15 minutes the Colts managed to earn their first lead of the game after an Adriana Vazquez corner thee pointer to make the score 20-18 with 5:38 remaining in the first half. To finish off the remainder of the first half the Colts held on to their first lead they earned until for the remaining minutes of the half with a score of 31-23.
To start off the second half the Colts and Broncos stood at a standstill as there was a total of eight points scored between the two teams with both showing aggressiveness and heads up play-style on the defensive end through the first five minutes of play. After securing their first lead of the game the SUNY Orange Colts have not looked back since securing their largest lead of the game with a score of 46-26 with 4:52 remaining in the third quarter. After outscoring the Broncos 20-9 before forcing Bronx Community College to call a timeout with just over three minutes left in the quarter.
Much like the last two quarters the fourth quarter was the Colts scored 21 points to the Broncos 14 points to give the Colts the 76-49 victory with this being the second time this season that they have held an opponent to under 50 points. After a quiet first quarter the Colts scored over 60 points in the remaining quarters averaging over 20 points, outscoring the Broncos 65-34. In this game the SUNY Orange Colts reached a few milestones with a team high in three pointers made shooting 5/12 from behind the three point arc and is the second time this season that the Colts finished with over a 40% 3 Point Percentage. The SUNY Orange Colts also reached a season high in free throws made and tied their season high in free throws attempted, finishing 21-34 from the free throw line. Lastly the Colts scored a season high in points scored with 76 points.

There were three Colts who finished with 10+ points Adriana Vazquez, Victoria Harrison and Eva Bloom.
Fr. Guard #35 Adriana Vazquez finished as the teams leading scorer with 26 points. This is the second time this season Adrianna has scored 20+ points, Vazquez finished the night with four rebounds and two steals and had an amazing shooting performance going 3-4 from behind the three point line and 4-6 from the free throw line.
So Guard #23 Victoria Harrison was the teams second highest scorer. Finishing with 16 points on 5/18 shooting and 6-8 from the free throw line. Victoria also added five rebounds, five assists, and six steals. Finishing with +5 stats in Points, Rebounds, Assists and steals.
Fr. Forward #10 Olivia Harrison led the COlts in rebounds, finishing the game with nine points, 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal and recorded two of the three blocked.
