Coach Notches Triple-Double in Loss at Kirtland

GRAYLING, Michigan -- A late run by the opponents doomed the Community Christian College Men's Basketball team in a 78-67 setback at Kirtland CC on Saturday. It's a disappointing start, despite many impressive statlines from the Lions.

One of three Lions in double-figures, Terrence Partridge had a game-high 24 points in the loss. DaiQuan Coach led the team in rebounds and assists, as he had a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. Rasheed Spratling had 14 points as well.

The game was neck-and-neck throughout the first half, with may lead changes and neither team leading by any more than 7 points. DC3 shot 33%, and held the Firebirds to 34% shooting. When Kirtland started to pull away just before halftime, Shauntez Cain and Chandler Burgess-Taylor each made a layup to keep their lead down to 5, 33-28 into the break.

DC3 was on fire from three in the 2nd half, shooting 41%, led by Partridge making 3-of-6. Unfortunately, they weren't able to reclaim the lead after the Lions tied it 53-53 midway through the 2nd. The Firebirds would make their living in the paint as they scored on layups and free throws throughout the last 10.

Community Christian will begin their home slate with three games in a row, the first of those taking place this Wednesday when DC3 hosts Washtenaw CC for a 7pm contest at Center Line Prep.
