Defense Leads Lady Jayhawks to Victory
TyVeonna Davis leads MCC with 21pts, 13reb.
The MCC women's basketball team achieved a successful victory against the Aquinas Saint's JV women's basketball team on Monday night.
Taking place at home, the Lady Jayhawks were able to maintain a strong defense and press within the first quarter to keep the score tied 14-14. Leading in the second quarter outscoring the Saints in the paint 21-14.
The entire team had outstanding performance both offensively and defensively which led the Jayhawks to the win over the Saints 62-45.
TyVeonna Davis (#23) led the charge with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists. Along with freshman Anna Lundquist (#30) with 16 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks). Kennedy Adams (#11) added 7 rebounds to the stats as well, being fully prepared to catch the boards.
Head coach Jason Cooper reflected on the game, post win: "We're happy with the win. It was a hard-fought victory, especially defensively, we did a lot better this game. We just must be able to score better, transition, and talk more on both ends of the court. But overall, I am happy with the win."
The Lady Jayhawks play on Thursday, November 14th, at Cornerstone 7pm
