Hornets Falter On Road Against #10 Jefferson

The Hornets trailed 31-5 after the first quarter and struggled to find their way back into the game. SUNY Broome was held to single digits for the first three quarters before netting 13 points in the fourth.
The Cannoneers were ranked as the #10 team in all of NJCAA Division III when the latest rankings were announced at the beginning of the week. Jefferson is also regarded as the #1 team in the latest Region III coaches' poll, now owning a 13-0 record in Region III play and a 9-0 record in conference play.
Juliana Turner was the high scorer for SUNY Broome in the loss. She scored seven points. Sophia Ashman was next in points with an all-around game of five points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Madeline Hyzer had a game-high 16 rebounds. The 16 boards tied Hyzer's season high from last Saturday against Genesee CC. She's now recorded double-digit rebounds in four of her last five contests, bringing her season rebound average to 8.0 per game.
Broome sits at 2-14 and 0-8 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference following the loss. The Hornets will play the final leg of their four-game road stretch on Sunday at North Country CC.
