Lady Jacks Rally Comes Up Short
In a game of scoring streaks, ACC fell behind by 20 at the half at Kirtland Community College, but rallied back numerous times to fall just short, 68-59.
The game was close early, with the Lumberjacks within two, 13-11, before the Firebirds scored 10 straight points for a 23-11 lead.
ACC scored 10 straight of their own, to bring the game back within a bucket at 23-21, but Kirtland then finished the first half with a 21-3 blitz that game them a 44-24 halftime advantage.
In the second half, the Jacks come out hot, cutting the lead to 47-40 on a 16-3 stretch that was keyed by Saige Flaugher's 10 points.
Kirtland extended the lead once again to 17, at 62-45 before ACC went on another 10-0 run, including three-pointers by Bryce Roy and Jena Wambold, to again cut the lead to seven, at 62-55.
However, the Lumberjacks could get no closer and lost by nine.
Flaugher scored 17 including three three-point baskets. Wambold finished with 14 points. Anna Herbolsheimer gave ACC three players in double-figures scoring 13.
Cierra Tetz had seven points and seven rebounds. Herbolsheimer finished with six rebounds while Abby Platt, Allison Cece and Roy each had five.
The Lumberjacks, now 2-14 overall, 1-7 conference, host Muskegon CC (16-4, 6-1) at 1:00 in Park Arena.
