Seven-run seventh costs Garden City in game three vs. Amarillo
Garden City, KS-For the second straight game, Garden City couldn't hold a lead.
Payton Bush hit a game-altering grand slam as part of a seven-run seventh inning as Amarillo handed Garden City their fifth straight loss, 9-3 Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.
The defeat spoiled a solid outing from Broncbuster starter, Sean Togher, who allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings and was in line for the win.
Justin Bush's RBI single in the second and Karson Evan's sacrifice fly in the third gave Garsden City a 2-0 edge. After Amarillo scored a run in the fourth, Sage Hurley singled home Cody Kilpatrick to make it 3-1.
It was 3-2 going to the seventh.
After giving up a leadoff double on his 90th pitch, Garden City Head Coach, Josh Oller pulled Togher and replaced him with Noah Humphreys. The move did not go according to plan.
Humphreys issued a walk and back-to-back RBI base hits to Ellington Jefferson and Gerardo Prado that gave Amarillo the lead. Two batters later, Bush blasted a grand slam over the video board in left to make it 8-3.
Roy Moon picked up the win in relief for Amarillo, holding Garden City without a hit over three spotless innings.
Mason Tafoya collected his fifth hit of the series for the Broncbusters, which fell to 6-7 overall.
