Women’s Basketball Fall Rally Falls Short To Lackawanna, 73-70

Carneys Point, NJ. – The Mighty Oaks women's basketball team fought all the way back from a 16 point deficit to fall just short in the final seconds to Lackawanna College, 73-70.  With the loss the Mighty Oaks fall to 4-5 on the season.

The comeback was led by an all-round performance by Caroline Zullo who hit a 3 pointer with 4 seconds left in regulation to pull the Mighty Oaks within three.  Zullo scored 13 points for Salem with a team high 8 rebounds.  Nyaijah Jackson led the Mighty Oaks in scoring with 18 points to go along with a team leading 5 steals. Geovanna Tjaden went a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the three point line to contribute 10 for Salem.  The sophomore tandem of Kathryn Laurence and Maggie St.Clair rounded out the Mighty Oaks scoring in double figures with 12 and 11 respectively. 

The Mighty Oaks have a short turn around as they will face Region 19 opponent Mercer Community College Tuesday December 17 in their last competition before the holiday break.  Tip off is scheduled for 5:00PM.
