FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team headed to Fort Dodge, Iowa Wednesday night for their penultimate road trip of the regular season in what was a conference battle with Iowa Central Community College. The Hawks took the showdown by a final score of 79-58.

Northeast (19-7, 11-5 ICCAC) was firing from deep early and often in the contest as the Hawks shot 52.4% from beyond the three-point line compared to just 27.3% from the Tritons. Northeast also protected the basketball well in the ballgame as they had just 10 turnovers compared to the 22 from Iowa Central. Mia Wiederin (Norfolk, Neb.) scored a game-high 19 points while Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, S.D.) trailed closely behind with 17 of her own.

"We got out of the gates well tonight and that's always great to see on the road," Svehla said. "Shots were going in and we defended pretty well. Always good to win on the road and now we need to get ready for another road game at Iowa Western on Saturday."

The Hawks will make the short trip to Iowa Western Community College and will take on the Reivers at 1 p.m. Saturday in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
