T-Bird (BB) Drops 2 on the Road at MCC

NMJC baseball fell in both games Friday evening to No. 7 McLennan Community College. 

Game 1

The T-Birds were no hit 2-0 by No. 7 McLennan Community College in Game 1 on Friday evening.

McLennan scored both runs in the bottom of the third on a sac fly and a single to first base.  

Starting pitcher Justin Nicks went four innings allowing one hit and two earned runs. Moises Lamon came in relief, throwing two innings and allowing two hits. 

The Highlander's headed into the top of the seventh with a perfect intact. McLennan faced third baseman Jeter Battles to lead off the inning and hit the batter ending the perfect game bid.

MCC struck out first baseman Lane Arroyos, caused Julius Ramirez to fly out to left, and struck out Lachlan Maude to complete the seven-inning no hitter.   

Game 2

NMJC dropped Game 2 against McLennan 10-6 Friday night.

McLennan opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second. The Highlanders pushed two runs across on an error and a fielder's choice which made it 2-0 McLennan. 

NMJC punched back in the top of the third scoring five runs. The T-Birds scored two runs on a Talan Barraza triple, two more runs on a Lane Arroyos double, and their final run of the third via a sac fly from Travis Vlasek.

The Thunderbirds led 5-2 after the top of the third and 5-3 following the end of the third inning. DH Julius Ramirez added a run with a solo homer in the fifth to extend the T-Bird advantage to 6-3. Ramirez leads the team with eight homers on the year. 

McLennan added a run in the sixth to make it 6-4 NMJC. The Highlanders blew the game open with six runs in the seventh by way of 2-run double, an RBI double, and a 3-run homer which pushed McLennan in front 10-6.

NMJC was hitless over the next two innings and went on to fall 10-6. The T-Birds finished Game 3 with six hits and two errors.
