The Lumberjack women's basketball team drop their conference opener Wednesday night to the Williston State College Tetons by a score of 82-54.
The Jacks battled back and forth with the Tetons in the opening stanza. Thanks to 12 points from Amari Butler the Jacks held an 18-16 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Jacks struggle from the field shooting just 21% from the field while the Tetons shot 50%. At the half WSC led 43-28.
The Lumberjack offense was able to get back on track coming out of the locker room. BrandeeRhae Mays paced DCB with 7 points in the quarter. On the other end of the floor the Jacks couldn't slow down Jersey Berg who had 14 points in the quarter on perfect 6-6 shooting. DCB played right with the Tetons in the 4th quarter but could not cut into the deficit. The Tetons would take the game by a final score of 82-54.
Butler led three Lumberjacks in double figures with 20 points. She was joined by Kiara Comeaux and Mays who each had 10 points. Berg led the Tetons with 28 points.
With the loss the Jacks fall to 7-7 overall and 0-1 inside the Mon-Dak. The next action for DCB will be in action Sunday in Devils Lake to take on Lake Region State College. Gametime is set for 1:00p.m.
