HARRIMAN, TENN. — The Glen Oaks Community College softball team opened the 2025 spring season Friday with the first of several doubleheaders on a southern road trip to Tennessee. The Vikings dropped both contests at Roane State Community College while trying to shake off the dust from a preseason that required mostly indoor practices. Taking the field for the first time, GOCC heated up in Game 2 and actually out-hit Roane State 10-7.
Game 1
Roane State 8, Glen Oaks 0
Roane State Community College defeated the Vikings with a lot of help from a five-run third inning. Audrie Dugan started in the circle for Glen Oaks Community College and she gave up 12 hits and eight runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking three. Bella Monsma, Aimee Reinhardt, Bailey Trail, and Grace Blanchard each collected one hit for Glen Oaks Community College. Roane State Community College tallied 12 hits in the game.
Game 2
Roane State 9, Glen Oaks 6
Glen Oaks Community College collected 10 hits but came up short in a rally attempt. Charlee Kyle, Bella Monsma, Aimee Reinhardt, and Grace Blanchard each collected two hits for the Vikings. Glen Oaks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Addison Harris doubled, scoring one run, and Audrie Dugan homered to right field, scoring two runs. Roane State answered immediately in the bottom of the first with four runs, including a three-run double. Roane State added one run in the second before Glen Oaks tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a double by Blanchard and an error. A home run to left field by Roane State Community College regained the lead for the home team, 7-5, in the bottom of the fourth.
Reinhardt hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fifth for Glen Oaks. She also started in the circle for the Vikings and the hurler allowed seven hits and nine runs over six innings, striking out five and walking three. Dugan drove the middle of the lineup, leading GOCC with two runs batted in.
