Westmoreland battles CCAC in a Non -Conference Game
Westmoreland battled rival CCAC in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon. With less then 40 miles that separate these 2 colleges, Westmoreland and CCAC have had many battles throughout the years. This game would be no different as both teams competed hard and exchanged leads several times.
It was an exciting first half, as both teams traded baskets and went on runs but neither team could pull away from the other. The wolfpack's Marvel McGowan was leading the charge for the wolfpack as he was 6 of 7 from the field and 2 for 2 from the free throw line in the first half. CCAC opened up a 7 point lead with just under 3 minutes left before halftime but Westmoreland closed it quickly. The wolfpack's Colin Masten followed his shot and scored on a put back to tie the score at 43 apiece going into the break.
The second half saw much of the same thing as both teams played extremely hard and scrappy. In the end, Westmoreland lost by a score of 100 -84. The score was no indication on how close the game was up until the very end. Marvel McGowan finished with 20 points and 4 assists and Colin Masten had another double double adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. The wolfpack will have to bounce back quickly as they will travel to Chesapeake MD to take on the Chesapeake College Skipjacks in a conference game.
