On Saturday March 15th the SUNY Orange Colts traveled to Nassau County Community College to take on the Lions of Nassau.
Going into this contest the Colts had a record of 3 wins and 4 losses with the Lions sitting at a record of 0-4 with the Colts leading 2-1 in their last three appearances.
In Game 1 of the two game series the Colts came out victorious after an amazing 6 run inning in the top of the eighth inning to close out the game. Jackson Atwell was struck by a pitch with the bases loaded driving in Charlie Gargulio who opened up the inning with a single, Jadin O'Neil was shortly hit by a pitch in the very next plate appearance bringing in Michael Fontaine to give the Colts the 7-5 lead.
Brian Saldana singled scoring a run, Michael Fontaine singled scoring two runs and Charlie Gargulio who made his second plate appearance in one inning singled again scoring the Colts final run to make the game 11-5.
SUNY Orange opened up the scoring in the 3rd inning after freshman shortstop #5 Jadin O'Neil singled to right field driving in Philip Scuderi to make the game 1-0.
The Lions were quick to respond and tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth inning, but was not enough as the Colts regained the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Brian Saldana doubled on a fly ball to center field who was called out advancing to third, J. O'Neil and J. Atwell managed to scored making the score 3-1.
The Lions tied the game late in the sixth inning to make the game 5-5. Pitcher #11 Gabe Alfonso earned the win for the Colts after pitching back to back no hit innings. Giving up zero hits and zero runs in two innings, striking out one batter and walking one. P. #45 Anthony Borromeo started on the mound for the Colts, the right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and one run over five innings, striking out one batter and walking two.
In game #2 a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh left the Colts on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat. With the score tied at 3-3 Nassau Community College singled to right field scoring one run giving the Colts the loss despite out-hitting the Lions 7-6.
The Colts opened the game up by putting the first points on the board after a Matthew Nixon single to bring in Charlie Gargulio and after five scoreless inning the Lions were able to tie the game in the sixth inning making the score 2-2.
Freshman center fielder #2 Jackson Atwell gave the Colts the lead in the top of the seventh inning to give the Colts a 3-2 lead.
After a heartbreaking ending the Colts finish their two game series going 1-1. Sophomore #27 Brian Saldana took the loss for the Colts, the starter went 6.2 innings striking out 8 batters and walking just one.
On Sunday March 23rd the SUNY Orange Colts played against the Raritan Valley Lions for the Colts home opener as the first game had plenty of scored runs with a final score of OCCC 10 - RVCC 7

So. #27 Brian Saldana finished the four games going 8/13 in the batters box hitting one double and driving in four RBI's. While pitching 6.2 innings while striking out eight batters earning a 2.70 ERA.
Fr. #2 Jackson Atwell finished with four hits, coming across to score seven runs, drove in five RBI's, stole two bases and hit one double
