MIDDLESEX COLLEGE WOMENS BASKETBALL GAINS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON 47-39 OVER HAGERSTOWN CC

Angelina Peralta-Almonte scored a team-high 15 points and Kezia Feaster grabbed 18 rebounds as Middlesex College Women's Basketball notched their first win of the 2024-2025 season, a 47-39 decision over Hagerstown CC.

The game came on the back end of a back-to-back as the Colts traveled to Maryland for a weekend trip to start the season. Middlesex dropped the opener against NJCAA Division I Harford CC.

Against Hagerstown, Middlesex jumped out to a 15-9 lead through the first quarter, but went cold in a second quarter that saw the Hawks hold the Colts to just two points. Middlesex showed a solid defense all game, but particularly in the second quarter. While the Colts struggled on offense, their defense more than made up for it, allowing Hagerstown just seven points in the quart as the Colts took a 17-16 lead into the half.

Middlesex regained its offensive form in the second half and the third quarter proved to be the highest scoring quarter for the Colts when they dropped 18 points to expand their lead to 35-29. Middlesex outscored Hagerstown 12-10 in the fourth to seal the first victory of the season.

Peralta-Almonte's 15 points led the Colts and was boosted by a solid 5-8 performance at the free throw line. Alyssa Rice (Freshman/Piscataway, NJ) added 10 points for Middlesex and led the team with three assists. Amya Green (Sophomore/Woodbridge, NJ) had eight points off the bench for Middlesex as well.

Middlesex returns to action on November 12 when they travel to Cecil College for a 6:00PM road game.
